Pay range:
$43.54 - $70.53The Clinical Documentation Specialist ensures the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation in the patient medical record through concurrent interaction with appropriate individuals. Monitors the documentation process and facilitate modifications to documentation to ensure that appropriate reimbursement and clinical severity is captured for the level of service rendered to all inpatients. Ensures that the clinical information used for measuring and reporting physician and hospital outcomes is complete. Educates all members of the patient care team on documentation policies, procedures, and regulatory agency documentation requirements.
Clinical Documentation Specialist Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Three years related clinical experience in an acute care setting required. Experience interacting with physicians required. ICD-10 coding and DRG experience preferred.
- Requires current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Washington. Must obtain Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) certification within twelve months of hire date.
- Knowledge of care delivery documentation systems and related medical records documents required. Strong communication and critical thinking skills. Ability to work independently in a time oriented environment.
- Work is performed in a well-lit, climate controlled office environment. Minimal potential for exposure to chemicals, fumes, or adverse weather conditions.
Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist Qualifications:
- Associates degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Three years related clinical experience in an acute care setting required. Experience interacting with physicians required. ICD-10 coding and DRG experience also required.
- Requires current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Washington. Requires certification by ACDIS as a Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS).
- Knowledge of care delivery documentation systems and related medical records documents required. Strong communication and critical thinking skills. Ability to work independently in a time oriented environment.
