Nursing Professional Development/Clinical Education Specialist - Med/Surg

Overlake Medical Center & Clinics is seeking a highly skilled, experienced, dynamic, Registered Nurse with an outstanding depth of knowledge in Medical-Surgical Nursing to join our team and drive our ongoing commitment to excellence.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Develop orientation/onboarding content related to medical surgical patient population and standards of care for clinical teams
  • Assess, develop, implement and evaluate education on medical-surgical patients for clinical staff
  • Facilitate ongoing and just in time education for clinical staff
  • Assist clinical teams in planning for complex patients
  • Support for New Graduate Residents and Transition nurses in Med-Surg units
  • Assist with med-surg content for transition in practice programs
  • Support teams in process improvement efforts within scope of expertise.
  • Leading initiatives in collaboration with stakeholders to support HAI reduction and improvement of quality metrics
  • Subject matter expert for medical surgical patient population and standards of care
  • Additional skills:  Preference for candidates with experience in oncology or wound/skin care

0.8 FTE/8hr days – schedule variable

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required. Masters degree in Nursing (MN, MSN) or Master's of Education (M.Ed) required.
  • Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Washington.
  • Health Care Provider CPR Certification
  • Five years nursing experience in acute healthcare setting required.
  • Three years experience in formal nursing education or leadership position required.
  • Competence in adult education, teaching, program planning, development, coordination and evaluation process highly desired.
  • Experience in quality improvement efforts, facilitation and group process knowledge and skills preferred.
  • Demonstrated competence in collaborative communication.
